Pitchfork gave it a 9...

New Deerhunter album came out today.... can't wait to obsessively listen to it for weeks and compare it to my life. Details to come after I listen to it...

Alright, so I have listened to this album probably 100 times, mostly as background music, over the past 2 days. The perfect word to describe it is.... Liquid. Bradford Cox is absolutely incredible. How can a 90 pound stick man play music so, perfect. All the songs flow so well together, like liquid sounds. I will admit that this album does not have as many guitar driven songs as Microcastle (man I love "Nothing Ever Happened"), but this is the first DH album that sounds like his side project, Atlas Sound. Listening to it makes me want to swim in a pool of red wine, with Bradford. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE DEERHUNTER AT FUN FUN FUN FEST.... holy moly!

Playlist for the week:
The entire Deerhunter album
*Fav tracks so far: Revival, Helicopter (he has the sweetest voice on this song),He Would Have Laughed
Eternal Summers- "Pogo"
Eternal Summers- "I'll Die Young for Love"

Finally.... a female music blogger

So, the time has finally come... After 2 months of saying I'd do a music blog, I finally started. Not sure why it took so long, maybe I was waiting for the right moment or stopped being lazy. In any case, "K-Spot Blog" is officially born. Welcome!

A brief about me: I have a small obsession with blog radio and spend most of my free time (even while working) researching new music. I could talk about music for hours, so why not do a blog? It's pretty cheesy but I try to start my week by creating a playlist that will either describe the mood I'm in, or help me get into a mood. That's the beauty of music!

The past few weeks I've been going back and forth between "mod/wave NYC electro" and "low-fi/psydeli Cali rock". Two polar opposites. Today, it's psydeli...
I know this band has been around a while, but the Black Angels just released their new album. It took 2 years for these guys to come out with an album, but wow... it's pretty great. I've been excited about this album release for a while. Especially after their performance on Letterman last week. Great way to represent the ATX. "Telephone" is the best song I've ever heard from them. I've listened to the album several times and am always left with the feeling of wanting to sit in a dark, old man bar and drink a loney. I think my favorite thing about the Black Angels is the fact that Alex Maas knows the precise moment in a song to throw in one of his signature yells or groan. Completely perfect.

A few months ago I was listening to blog radio and heard a song by the 1-man band White Fence from LA. After I heard the song, my "psydeli/garage rock" obsession started and all I want to do is find more. The song "The Love Between" really gets under your skin and makes you want to hear more. I’ve never heard anything like it before.

I’m going to try and end every blog with my play-list for the week… so here it is:
Telephone-Black Angels
The Sniper- Black Angels
Phosphene Dream- Blank Angels
Destroy Everything- White Fence
The Love Between by WHITE FENCE
Island Ave by JACUZZI BOYS
Caeser- Ty Segall
My Sunshine- Ty Segall

Until next time...
K-Spot, out
